In addition growth in the period from April to June was revised up to 0.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/CxN2HH-XgAADNUf.jpg:large\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.4em; line-height: 1.4; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Gotham Regular', sans-serif;\">The numbers bode well for a stronger economic recovery next year following the country\u2019s long and deep recession.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.4em; line-height: 1.4; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Gotham Regular', sans-serif;\">Faced with a second bailout review entailing an unpopular liberalisation of labour laws, the Athens government is keen to show that the taxation and pension cuts that were part of the trade-off for last year\u2019s 86-billion-euro bailout deal will bear fruit and lead to economic recovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.4em; line-height: 1.4; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Gotham Regular', sans-serif;\">The growth came partly from\u00a0EU spending on aid for refugees\u00a0arriving in Greece fleeing war and persecution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.4em; line-height: 1.4; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Gotham Regular', sans-serif;\">\u201cThe flash readings were above forecasts of around 0.2 percent, showing that the economy did not rely just on tourism but was helped by domestic demand and improved liquidity in the corporate sector amid clearance of arrears,\u201d National Bank economist Nikos Magginas said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.4em; line-height: 1.4; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Gotham Regular', sans-serif;\">The Greek government is hoping that a visit to the country by Barack Obama, the outgoing US president, will also help the country with its quest for debt relief.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.euronews.com\/2016\/11\/14\/greece-sees-surprise-economic-growth\">http:\/\/www.euronews.com\/2016\/11\/14\/greece-sees-surprise-economic-growth<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt;\">{rsform 3}<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 There was some good news from Greece on Monday when we learned the economy has expanded again.
